SJGRS SOUTH JERSEY EXPRESS .....

August, 2008 .... Issue 8.... Anita Brown, Editor

Brown's Host August Meeting

Our history dates back to summer 1990. Since then we have grown to over 500 feet of garden railroad, have two ponds and a stream and keep looking for G-scale items to make our railroad come alive with people, buildings & of course trains. Tom spends his time building and repairing and Nita tends the "grounds" and thinks up things for Tom to build. His latest is a three building set made from Lego's. If patience is a virtue, Tom has virtue. This year we gave up on our small lighthouse and purchased a larger one with beaker light. We have to remember to shut it off at night, it lights up our whole neighborhood which might not be a bad thing. Tom had a Beer train running pulled by his Tank Engine. Three back & forth units kept busy all day on the shorter tracks. His Hudson, Big Boy and Shay were on display in the den. Ken Richter was the inside engineer and gave tours in the train room and basement area. A nice lunch was topped off with many desserts and a birthday cake for Jim Fox provided by Marilyn. The weather was excellent for our Open House on Saturday and the meeting on Sunday. Attending: Frank Ancher, Jim Brooks, The Brown's, Jim & Marilyn Fox, Larry & Donna Grady, Elaine Grindlinger, Jack & Janet Heath, Bill Keller, Rick & Patti Lewis, Don McGahn, Mac & Ellyn McMullin, Rich Muller, Fred & Ann Neal, Bud & Cass Oncay, Larry Paakh, Joe & Darlene Profetto, Rhonda & Ken Richter, Al & Bobbie Schmidt & Tom & Marie Tomasello.

BUSINESS MEETING

We have gotten a few suggestions to take under consideration for day trips. If you have something in mind please send it to Anita Brown for the planning committee to check into. Thanks for your support. Wayne Richter has volunteered to act as Treasurer for the convention. A big plus in getting this started. Updates will be given at each meeting. Let's make this convention a great one in 2010. 2009's BTO convention will be held in Bird in Hand, PA in June 2009.
